The activities of this group (originally working group on scientific visualization) roughly started with the first workshop of this series in 1990. In particular, Michel Grave, Hans-Georg Pagendarm, Ulrich Lang, Hans Hagen, Jack van Wijk, and Frits Post participated in its founding activities. Since 2002, we renamed the group into the Eurographics Working Group on Data Visualization.
Since 1999, this series is co-organized by Eurographics and IEEE VGTC. From 1990 to 2004 the event was held as a workshop, in 2005 it became a symposium, and from 2012 it will have the status of a conference. Since 2010, there exists a framework for co-located workshops under the name of EuroVis Workshop. A first instance of this concept is EuroVA, the EuroVis Workshop on Visual Analytics. The Working Group welcomes proposals for further EuroVis Workshops.
Most of the proceedings are available through Eurographics (or other bookstores). All proceedings starting from 1998 are also available through the digital library of Eurographics.
