Laszlo Szirmay-Kalos is the head of the Department of Control Engineering and Information Technology of the Budapest University of Technology. He was graduated from the same university in 1987, received his Ph.D. degree from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in 1992, and the degrees of Habilitated Doctor and Doctor of Science in 2000. He was a guest researcher at the University of Minnesota, Vienna University of Technology, and the University of Girona. His research interests include Monte-Carlo methods in global illumination and GPU based realistic rendering. He took part in the organisation of EG Conferences in 1997 and 2006 as an IPC co-chair and in 2001 as a tutorial programme co-chair, participated in the program committees and acted as a reviewer for both EG Conferences and the EG Rendering Workshops. He has been member of the Executive Committee between 2001 and 2004.
