
Eurographics is very pleased to award the Eurographics Medal 2026 to Oliver Deussen for his outstanding scientific contributions, for his service to Eurographics, and for his leadership in the the field at large.
Oliver Deussen graduated from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in 1996, and he has been a Professor for Visual Computing at the University of Konstanz (Germany) since 2003. From 2010–2020 he served as a visiting professor at the Shenzhen Institute of Applied Technology (Chinese Academy of Science). Oliver has been recognized for his research contributions to the modeling and rendering of complex biological systems, non-photorealistic rendering as well as information visualization. He also contributed important papers to geometry processing, sampling methods, and image-based modeling.
Oliver significantly shaped the research environment at the University of Konstanz: He served as vice speaker of the DFG funded Collaborative Research Centre (CRC) on Quantitative Methods for Visual Computing (2015-2021), and he became one of the driving forces behind the Centre for Advanced Study of Collective Behavior that was established at the University of Konstanz within the framework of the German Excellence Initiative.
Oliver Deussen has also rendered an exceptional amount of service to the community at large. He served as co-Editor in Chief of Computer Graphics Forum from 2012-2015. He has been a long-term member of the Eurographics Executive Committee, and he served as chair of the Association (2019-2020). In 2020 he was elected to the DFG Review Board (Fachkollegium) Computer Science, and in 2022 he became an ordinary member of the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and Humanities.
In 2025 Oliver Deussen was elected Chair of the Eurographics Fellows.
