He has served on the Executive Committee of Eurographics since 1997 and has made significant contributions to the development of the Rendering Symposium through his chairmanship of the Rendering Working Group.
He has published extensively in the field; current publications are addressing issues in lighting, and interactive visualization of complex scenes using hybrid 3D modelling and image-based rendering techniques. He is head of a major research group in the field. He is on the editorial boards of ACM Transactions on Graphics, Computer Graphics Forum and other leading journals.
Francois Sillion was elected Fellow of the Association in recognition of:
1. His contribution to the rendering agenda within Eurographics through chairmanship of the Rendering Working Group

Marie-Paule Cani is a Professor of CS at the Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble (INPG), France. She is a graduate from the Ecole Normale Supérieure (arguably the top institution in France). She received a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Paris Sud in 1990 and the “habilitation” degree from INPG in 1995. She has been nominated at the “Institut Universitaire de France” in 1999.
She has made significant research contributions in physically-based simulation of natural phenomena (lava, human hair, vegetation), modeling and virtual sculpting with implicit surfaces. She has over 70 publications. Seven in Eurographics events. She has co-chaired the Eurographics workshops on Implicit Surfaces in 1995 and on Computer Animation and Simulation in 2001. She has been in the programme committees of Eurographics in 1996 and 2003, Computer Animation (now re-named CASA) in 1999 and 2003, Shape Modelling International in 1999, 2001 and 2004, NPAR’2002, the ACM-EG Symposium of Computer Animation in 2002, 2003 and 2004, Pacific Graphics’2002, and SIGGRAPH’2002. She belongs to the editorial board of GMOD (Academic Press) since 2001. She is the paper chair of Eurographics 2004. She also holds significant administrative responsibilities at the INRIA, including the management of a strong research group.
